A projector lamp is used to project text, images and other media elements on to the projector screen via a projector. A projector lamp find its application in various areas including the projection of movies on to the movie screen in theatres, business where business professionals can use a projector lamp to project their ideas in the form of graphs, images, etc. during conferences and also for educational purposes.

A projector lamp consists of the following main components.

1)      ARC tube- It is a 2 inch long quartz bulb also known as projector bulb which protrudes form a quartz globe.

2)      Mercury Vapour-It is present within the ARC tube under ultra-high pressure. A projector has electric ballasts inside them to regulate the flow of electricity, since the mercury vapour is sensitive to the flow of current within the projector.

3)       Quartz Globe-It is a reflector and forms the exterior part within which the projector lamp resides.

There are basically three types of projector lamps namely,

1)      Overhead Projector lamps-In this case, the images are enlarged and projected on a screen, mainly used by business professionals and for educational purposes.

2)      Slide Projector Lamps-In this case, the projectors have special slots for inserting the slides which need to be projected. It is very popular among photographers who use these projectors for special photography.
